Step Change: Call for Creative Practitioners

The Creative Learning Team is part of Aberdeen City Council, Education, Culture and Sport. The team works to improve outcomes for individuals and communities through the arts, culture and creativity.

Are you a Creative Practitioner?

musician/drama practitioner/public artist/writer/dancer

photographer/film maker/visual artist/designer…..

From May 2013 – 2015, Step Change aims to improve outcomes for young people at risk of or involved in offending in Aberdeen. 

We are looking to develop a database of Creative Practitioners who have:

  • a minimum of 2 years experience in using their specialist art form(s) in participatory settings
  • the ability to establish a rapport and proven track record in building relationships with challenging young people who are in the Youth Justice System

 If you have the appropriate skills and experience and are interested in sessional work* please complete the application form.

(*sessional work 3+ hours per week in blocks of 5 – 10 weeks).

Fees: £175 per day (pro rata) inclusive of preparation and delivery.

 Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a short interview for submission to the programme. Selected applicants will have the opportunity to access free training in this field and to deliver sessions as part of the Step Change programme.

Education and Outreach Officers posts

 Woodend Arts (WA) and sound (North East Scotland’s festival of new music) are seeking to appoint education and outreach officers. These posts are being advertised jointly as sound and WA are both based in the Woodend Barn in Banchory, and as such will probably interest a single candidate. Art Engagement – One day left for submission deadline

Artist opportunity: ‘ Art Engagement’, a public art project based in The Green, Aberdeen.

Aberdeen City Council’s  Arts Development Team seek an artist specialising in generating work within the public realm, with a strong understanding of collaborative practice and is comfortable developing methods of consultation, participation, community involvement leading to the production of a temporary art piece (to be located within the Green area in late January/ early February 2011). 
This project will form part of Aberdeen City Council’s larger ‘Art Engagement’ project, focusing on the impact public art in all its many forms can have on a community and the city as whole, breaking down the barriers towards long term engagement, participation and retention of creativity within the city.

Public Art Commission for Connect2 Perth

Call for applications: Perth & Kinross Council invite applications from artists (working alone or collaboratively) to create a Public Art work(s) as part of the Connect2 Perth – River Tay Foot/ Cycle Bridge and Path Network. The artist will collaborate with local communities creatively, leaving a visual legacy of that engagement. This may include traditional or non traditional media eg. temporary or permanent installations / exhibitions / film / photographs / book / projections etc.

Fee: £14,400 to include all costs
