Open day and free ceramnics taster sessions at Dyce Community Centre

Come along to Dyce Community Centre and ‘Have a go’ with the Aberdeen Potters on 23rd May 10.00 am – 2.30pm.

The Potters are a group who meet regularly at Dyce and are looking for new memebers
A chance to come along and meet some enthusiastic ceramicists and their experienced tutor. You will be able to try your hand at a verity of techniques such as handbuilding, glazing and wheelthrowing.
All levels and abilities welcomed!

Creative Communities Project

Creative Communities is Arts Development, Aberdeen City Council’s programme of art projects/events/workshops in the cities regeneration areas and is funded by the Fairer Scotland Fund.  From October 2012 to April 2013 there will be a host of imaginative and inspiring creative opportunities for residents of all ages from the cities 7 regeneration areas;

Each area will be allocated a lead artist

Each project will run over 4 weeks.

Each areas project will culminate in a fun community event.

The projects are for residents of all ages from the cities Regeneration areas, and the programme offers opportunities to be involved in many different art forms.  While you may find it most convenient to attend workshops/events in your area we encourage and welcome cross over between areas and all sessions can be attended by residents from other regeneration areas.

Projects will happen in:

Tillydrone

Northfield & CummingsPark

Torry

Woodside

Middlefield

Seaton

 

Each area will have a launch day which will take place a week before the project starts, this will take the form of an ice-cream van/ pop up art workshops.  Get your free ice cream or tea/coffee if a chilly day and learn about the project that is happening is happening in the area.

Creative Communities’ goes digitalAlong side the programme of workshops, the creative communities’ project will have an online presence, keeping you up to date with latest developments, offering inspiration and assigning online arts projects for you to get involved with.

Temporary Art School, exciting new project taking place in Aberdeen

Temporary Art School is a one month live project happening throughout the city of Aberdeen in March 2012. A group of people living and working in both Aberdeen and Glasgow have come together to put on classes and workshops which experiment with what an art school can be and continue in a long tradition of self-organised education.The school is free and no previous experience of art education or training is required. Parallel Lives – Community Music Project

A new Community Music project which looks at the overlapping experiences of  the North East herring girls of the past and today’s migrant worker population.  The aim is to explore the stories and lived experiences behind The Song of the Fish Gutters(which is about young women who migrated along the Northeast coast of Scotland in search for work) and compare this with the experiences of people from Central and Eastern Europe who currently work in Aberdeen’s fish industry. This project is led by musician Petra Vergunst and commissioned by Arts Development, Aberdeen City Council, with money from the Fairer Scotland Fund, will take place in Torry, Aberdeen, from August to October 2011.

Clockwork and the12 Hour Photo Marathon Exhibition

On the 21st of May the people of Aberdeen took part in the 12 Hour Photo Marathon and told us the story of a day through pictures. An exhibition of these images are on display at Aberdeen Lemon Tree this month and a short film will be screened after the performances of Clockwork (2-4 June at the Lemon Tree).

 Visible Fictions & Scottish Opera presents Clockwork.

Based on Philip Pullman’s novel, Clockwork takes you to a world where past merges into present, life merges with machine and fiction becomes scarily real. Told through a captivating mix of puppetry, live action, music and singing, this show is perfect for ages 8+.

Our Story Exhibition – Open Now

‘Our Story’ Exhibition now open at the Aberdeen Art Gallery (Studio Workshop).

‘Our Story’ was an innovative year long multi-arts project. The project was delivered over two stages. Firstly the presentation of ‘Our World’, a community participation collaboration with the Aberdeen International Youth Festival Parade, the second stage is end of project exhibition atAberdeenArtGallery. Family Art Workshop ‘Make a Mini Me’.

Book on one of the four sessions,
Mornings 10.30 – 11.30 or 11.45 – 12:45 
Afternoons 1.15 – 2.15 or 2.30 – 3.30pm
Join in with this fun, family friendly activity to create and decorate your own Mini Munny figure, personalised with different accessories and paints.

AmbITion Scotland’s Spring Training series

 

On 25 May 2011, 9:30-5pm in Glasgow That’s Rich! the first of these sessions will focus on producing rich media for your online channels using tools like Flickr, Vimeo, Audioboo and Issuu.

 On 2 June, 9:30-5pm in Glasgow Get Smart the second training will teach you how to use the free tools MailChimp, Eventbrite and Surveymonkey for better operational effectiveness.
