Photo journeys of The Green wanted

As part of the Lively Cities (LICI) project, Aberdeen City Council is looking for people’s views on the city centre area known as The Green.

 The LICI Project is a European partnership which explores alternative ways of reclaiming public space for public use.

Aberdeen is one of nine cities involved in the project which has been successful in receiving funding through the Interreg IVB North West Europe programme.

 To support the development of its “Public Art Aberdeen” initiative, the City Council’s focus is to assess the role public art can play in developing areas of the city.

 The Green has been selected as the location the council would like to find out how residents and visitors think of the area.  It wants to know if individuals:

  • use it as a link through the city centre;
  • their likes and dislikes of the area;
  • suggestions as to how to improve it;
  • whether or not people think there is particular opportunities for public art.

 Aberdeen City Council’s Cultural Policy and Partnership Officer Gary Cameron said: “We are encouraging city residents and visitors to go along to the area and use their mobile phones or cameras to take a ‘photo-journey’. These photographs should be supported by comments and posted on the Art of the Green Facebook page or sent to us via email.

“Views can also be expressed by completing an online survey, taking part in on site observational sessions, via email or simply by giving us a call.”
