All activities are free and will be held in Aberdeen Art Gallery Studio Workshop.

Family Art Workshop ‘Make a Mini Me’.
Saturday 7 May,
Book on one of the four sessions,
Mornings 10.30 – 11.30 or 11.45 – 12:45 
Afternoons 1.15 – 2.15 or 2.30 – 3.30pm
Join in with this fun, family friendly activity to create and decorate your own Mini Munny figure, personalised with different accessories and paints.
Workshop suitable for children ages 6 years and over must be accompanied by an adult.

Storytelling Sessions ‘Inspired by the Wallace Tower.’
Saturday 14 May, 2 – 2.30pm or 3 – 3.30pm
Come along to one of these two sessions to hear storyteller Grace Banks bring to life stories inspired by the Wallace Tower and the people who live there.
Sessions suitable for children ages 4 years and over must be accompanied by an adult.

Visible Fictions, ‘The 12 Hour Photo Marathon’
Saturday 21 May.
Drop in between 10.30 – 4.30pm at Aberdeen Art Gallery.
Drop in between 10 – 5pm at Central Library.
12 hours, 12 photos, one city, hundreds of stories!
 Visible Fictions, Scottish Opera and Arts Development invite you to
Upload your story of a day in photos.  Join us on the 21 May in Aberdeen for the 12 Hour Photo Marathon and create your story by uploading a photo on the hour every hour from 8am to 8pm.

Come along on the day to Aberdeen Art Gallery and Central Library to find out about the project and get help uploading your pictures. A selection of your photos will be displayed in an exhibition and film before the performance of Clockwork at the Lemon tree, June 2 – 4 2011.  www.12photo.co.uk

Textile Workshop ‘Stitched Textiles’
Tuesday 24 May, 10.30 – 12.30pm
Join artist Linsay Macdonald, to find out more about the intergenerational textile artwork created as part of the ‘Our Story’ Project in Torry. There will also be the opportunity to create your own stitched piece trying out some of the embroidery techniques used. Workshop suitable for adults of all abilities.
Practical Session ‘Knit and Natter’
Wednesday 1 June, 1 – 3pm
Join St Catherine’s knitting group for a relaxed session of knitting and chatting. This is a chance to share some traditional knitting skills, try out the basics if you are beginners. Adults of all abilities are welcomed, spaces limited.
Family Art Workshop ‘Make your Own Sketchbook’
Saturday 4 June
11 – 12noon or 1 – 2pm (Book on a morning or afternoon session)
During this family art session artists will encourage adults and children to work together, with a range of materials to create their own sketchbook. This session will take inspiration from the Torry ‘Creative Environment’ and will be supported by ‘Torry Arts’ volunteers. Suitable for children aged 6 years and over accompanied by an adult.
Workshop ‘Creative Writing Session’
Thursday 9 June, 10.30 – 12.30pm
During this creative writing session participants will be encouraged to explore different writing techniques, with guidance and support from local author and historian Graeme Milne. Workshop is suitable for adults with an interest in local history and creative writing.

Film Viewing ‘Silver City Soul Project’
Saturday 11 June, 2 – 4pm
Come along to this informal session where there will be a showing of clips from the recent Silver City Soul project, a video portrait of Aberdeen. You will have the chance to speak to the artist Adam Proctor and outreach officers from National Galleries of Scotland and also find out how to get involved. The project reaches its culmination in February 2012, where images and film will be displayed at Aberdeen Art Gallery
Presentation and Discussion ‘Creative Oral History Projects’
Sunday 12 June, 2.30 –  3.30pm
Join experienced historian Arlene Forman as she gives an overview of past Arts Development creative oral history projects. Have the opportunity to look through and discuss various case studies and examples of books and works produced.
Workshop is suitable for adults interested in local history.
Craft Workshop ‘Weaving Creations’
Tuesday 14 June, 10.30 – 12.30pm
Join this practical session to explore the traditional craft of weaving. You will be encouraged to try out age old techniques to create a small piece of weaving. Suitable for adults of all abilities.

Talk on Website Created ‘Guide to Seaton.’
Thursday 16 June, 1 – 3pm
Come along to find out more about the ‘Guide to Seaton’. This talk will cover the custom made website encouraging folk to discover what is in their local area. Talk suitable for adults of all ages.
Looking for creative ideas for over the summer holidays?

Family Art Workshop ‘Make a Wildlife Seed Bale’.
Saturday 18 June, 10.30 – 12.30pm.
Drop in sessions suitable for 6 years and over, children must be accompanied by an adult.

Arts Development is devising children’s Art and wildlife activity packs to run in conjunction with Aberdeen Art Gallery’s summer exhibition Wildlife Photographer of the Year which is owned by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine and runs from 11 June – 20 August.

On this launch day we are inviting people along for a taster of what will be happening in Aberdeen Art Gallery and community venues over the summer.
Join in with this fun, family friendly activity to make and decorate your own seed bale that you can locate in the natural environment to transform into beautiful wild flowers. Workshop suitable for children ages 6 and over must be accompanied by an adult.

If you are involved with any play schemes or school holiday clubs then please come along on the day, where you can speak to Arts Development staff to find out more information.
