Past Inspiration Present Creation – Creative Writers Wanted

Arts Development are looking for local creative writers of all abilities to take part in an arts project called Past Inspiration Present Creation.

The project has been inspired by an archive of photographs found in Cornhill Community Centre [Beechwood Road] depicting community life in Aberdeen.

The aim of the project is to encourage people to write a creative response to one of these photos in the form of a poem or short story. Each written piece will then be personally illustrated by a member of the Cornhill Adult Art Group. The written pieces will then be published along side the illustrations in an exclusive booklet and exhibition.

Anyone interested in taking part in the project should contact Margaret Stewart, Community Arts Officer on (01224) 526640 or email mstewart@aberdeencity.gov.uk Each participant will be sent a photograph at random to inspire a written piece. Writers will then have until Thursday 10 March 2011 to submit their entries.

Cornhill Adult Art Group meets from 9.30am to 11.30am every Monday at Cornhill Community Education Centre [Beechwood Road] and is open to adults in the Cornhill/Stockethill area.

The group is funded by the Fairer Scotland fund and supported by Arts Development and Community Learning. New members from the Cornhill/Stockethill are always welcome. Workshops are free and suitable for beginners. A crèche is also available at the centre.

For information on how to join the group contact Community Arts Officer Margaret Stewart on (01224) 526640 or email mstewart@aberdeencity.gov.uk
