Education and Outreach Officers posts

Woodend Arts (WA) and sound (North East Scotland’s festival of new music) are seeking to appoint education and outreach officers. These posts are being advertised jointly as sound and WA are both based in the Woodend Barn in Banchory, and as such will probably interest a single candidate. These part-time posts will support WA (approx. 60% of the time) and sound (approx. 40% of the time).

These are new strategic posts, created as a result of both WAA and sound having received 2-year flexible funding from Creative Scotland, starting in April 2011. In both cases, the Education and Outreach Officer will deliver existing activities and develop new ones, bringing them into new education and outreach programmes.

The successful candidate will have a background in the arts sector, ideally in a similar post, experience of working with local community organisations as well as local councils, and will have knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence.

He/she will be a self-motivated individual, capable of working on their own initiative and able to think creatively as well as work as part of a team. We are looking for someone very organised and flexible, with excellent project management skills (including fundraising), written/verbal communication skills and IT knowledge.

The posts are likely to be offered initially as fixed-term one-year or freelance contracts (one contract with WA and one contract with sound); it is our aim that these contracts will be extended for a second year subject to confirmation of funding. Our long-term aspiration would be to have a permanent post if funding can be found.

Letters of application accompanied by a CV should be sent to:

Fiona Robertson sound and Woodend Arts c/o Woodend Barn Banchory AB31 5QA

or emailed to fiona@sound-scotland.co.uk and fiona@woodendbarn.co.uk

A full job description is available on both www.sound-scotland.co.uk and www.woodendbarn.co.uk

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 28th February and interviews will take place in the week of the 7th March.
