Art Engagement – Lead Artist Appointed

Art Engagement is a research and participatory public art project led by Arts Development. The project focuses on the impact art in all its many forms can have for a community and the city as whole, breaking down barriers for long term engagement, participation and retention of creativity within the city. Artist Chris Biddlecombe was recently appointed the Lead Artist for the project.

Chris is a visual artist who has exhibited mixed media installations and performances in the UK and internationally.  His commissioned works are interactive social, historical and geographic responses to specific public sites and communities that have encouraged collaborations with architects, engineers, planners, museum curators, writers, performers, musicians and other creative makers. Projects and location combinations have included a carpet of 5000 teacups in a cathedral, dance performances in shop windows, a psychic radio station in a disused Methodist chapel, a burning whale in a city centre high school and a pavilion created from 10 tons of rice in a library (pictured).

We look forward to seeing what Chris with his wealth of experience and creativity will bring to the project.
