Our Story at the Tartan Day Parade

Our Story’ is an innovative year long multi-arts project, that brings  Aberdeen communities together and to celebrate their unique identity, stories and creative spirit.  As part of the project Arts Development have partnered up with Aberdeen International Youth Festival to offer the opportunity for communities to play an active role in the festival, joining the Tartan day parade on Saturday 31st July.

Through the Fairer Scotland  funded ‘Our Story’ project, the Arts Development team have been supporting an army of  community volunteers   to develop and make their own parade costumes and Maypoles  with brightly coloured streamers.  Each of the streamers, which contain a message, will be held by a young person as they make their way along the parade.

The Tartan day parade will be going down Union Street,  beginning at 11am. The parade will see massed pipe bands perform along the route, followed by the members of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival including the community groups from the Our Story project.

Get along if you can it’s sure to be a great day!
